St. James Episcopal Church:

Built at 302 West Avenue in 1883, this is the oldest church still in use in Cedartown. The church has been preserved in its original state, with the exception of the exterior paint color. Sterling Holloway, the voice of Winnie-the-Pooh, grew up in this church. The parish community formed in 1878 with a small group of Episcopalians meeting in homes and then commercial properties. The desire for a permanent place to worship was realized when construction of the current building was begun in 1883 and completed in 1884. The interior of the building was carefully furnished with appropriate pews and a hand-carved altar rail. In July of 2013, St. James celebrated 135 years of continuous worship in the Anglican/Episcopal style and tradition.

Cedartown Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia:

The vision for the Cedartown Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia began with the Morris Family’s love of local history as well as Coca-Cola memorabilia. In February, 2014 the Morris family purchased the property for the museum.

The museum project is a total renovation of the original Coke building built in 1900. With the help of friends, foundations, and generous donations, the Morris Family built a first class museum that is sure to attract thousands of visitors to the Downtown Cedartown Business District.  The museum features a fully restored facade and modernized interior that highlights its more than century old past. The museum offers a comprehensive story from Coca-Cola’s humble beginnings in 1886 to its departure from Cedartown’s Main Street in 1977. On display are artifacts including vintage delivery vehicles, porcelain and tin signage, a century old soda fountain, and hundreds of other pieces.

The Morris Family hopes rehabilitating this property will serve as not only a window into Cedartown’s past but as an inspiration to not only local residents but property owners in the fading Main Street scene across America.
